The Toronto Maple Leafs were dealt another tough injury Monday night against the New York Islanders.
Already without Jake Muzzin and TJ Brodie, the Leafs' defense will now be without arguably their top defenseman, Morgan Reilly, for a while. He left last night's game after an awkward collision with Islanders forward Kyle Palmieri (see below):
Tuesday morning, the Leafs announced they had placed Reilly on LTIR, and TSN's Darren Dreger has heard reports of the worst:
''Rumblings of a grade 1 or 2 MCL injury for Rielly which would align with LTIR and a 4-6 week recovery.''
This means Rielly will be out for at least 10 games or 24 days, but it sounds like it could be much longer. Toronto now has this as their top-six defense:
Mark Giordano - Justin Holl
Rasmus Sandin - Timothy Liljegren
Victor Mete - Jordie Benn
