The Vancouver Canucks were in action Wednesday night vs the Anaheim Ducks in Rogers Arena. We were lucky enough to witness something truly special in this one. With the score tied 1-1 Canucks forward Elias Pettersson ditched a nice setup on Andrei Kuzmenko to score on Ducks goaltender Lukas Dostal.

Kuzmenko has become a fan favorite in his first year in Vancouver and he's gained plenty of attention from other teams for his skill.

That goal had an important significance as it was Kuzmenko's 30th of the year. Kuzmenko became the first Canucks Russian player to score 30 goals since the Russian Rocket, an all-time favorite, the one and only Pavel Bure. Bure had reached that mark back in 1992, his rookie season where he managed an impressive 34 goals in 65 games.

"The last time a Russian forward with the Canucks scored 30 goals in his first NHL season, Bure in 1992."

The Canucks have definitely won their bargain in signing Kuzmenko. He recently inked a two-year extension with the team and has settled in nicely on Pettersson's side. Since the team added Anthony Beauvillier to their left, they've undoubtedly been the team's top line. Beauvillier has 13 points through 15 games since joining the Nucks.

Can Kuzmenko beat the Russian Rocket's first-year mark of 34?
