it has been a tough season so far for the Vancouver Canucks when it comes to having key players be absent for an extended period of time, now Filip Hronek is suffering the same fate.
During the Vancouver Canucks 3rd game of their current 6-game road trip, with just seconds left to play, Filip Hronek was injured by Pittsburgh Penguins d-man Jack St. Ivany, who shoved him awkwardly into the boards.
It was clear Hronek was in immediate discomfort and it was soon reported that Hronek would be out for a lengthy period of time with an upper body injury.
To everyone's surprise, the NHL announced something very unexpected.
It was confirmed that Canucks defenseman Filip Hronek didn't have any work done for his upper body, but had successfully gone through a lower body procedure and will be out a minimum of 8-weeks.
It clearly comes as a shock that the injury reports by trusted insiders like Elliotte Friedman, Rick Dhaliwal and Darren Dreger were way off on their assessment and were just speculating.
They reported yesterday (Dec 2nd) that Hronek would be going to see specialists and was considered "week-to-week".
It has all changed now as he did end up having a procedure done, just not at all related to his upper body.
