Elias Pettersson handed big opportunity at 4 Nations Face-Off

Sweden took to the ice for their first practice on Monday afternoon at CN Sports Complex in Brossard, Quebec, the practice facility of the Montreal Canadiens and we got out first look at forward lines and defensive pairings for the team.
Vancouver Canucks forward Elias Pettersson was given a top-six role on Monday alongside Adrian Kempe of the Los Angeles Kings and Filip Forsberg of the Nashville Predators.
Pettersson and Kempe have played together in the past for the Swedish national team, at the 2018 - where they won gold - and 2019 IIHF World Hockey Championships.
"Elias Pettersson is playing centre on Sweden's second line at their first practice.

His wingers are Adrian Kempe (LAK) and Filip Forsberg (NSH).

Pettersson and Kempe played for Sweden at the 2018 and 2019 World Championships.

Forsberg was on the team for the 2018 World Championships." Canucks Insider on X said.
As expected Pettersson was also involved on the powerplay at Sweden's practice as Tre Kronor head coach Sam Hallam had him on the second unit with Rickard Rakell (Pittsburgh Penguins), Adrian Kempe (Los Angeles Kings), Victor Hedman (Tampa Bay Lightning) and Jesper Bratt (New Jersey Devils).
The Sundsvall, Sweden native has skated in 13 games for the men's national team at the aforementioned 2018 and 2019 IIHF World Hockey Championships where he's registered 13 points (four goals, nine assists), two penalty minutes and was a plus-two.
Elias Pettersson and Team Sweden will begin their quest for the 4 Nations Face-Off title on Wednesday night at the Bell Centre in Montreal as they take on Sidney Crosby and Team Canada. Puck drop is set for 5 pm PT (8pm local) on Sportsnet.
