Trade Rumor: Vancouver Canucks Actively Shopping Nils Hoglander & Nashville Predators Emerge as Front Runners

It is no secret that the Vancouver Canucks are shopping around their young forward Nils Hoglander, but the rumors keep swirling on who the best suitor will be, and the a recent trade rumor has suggested the Nashville Predators may have the best assets.

NHL Insider Kevin Weekes first reported the rumor that Nils Hoglander will be at the center of many trade talks in the near future.

Per NHL Trade Rumors.com, if a trade were to occur between the Canucks and Predators, it would see Nils Hoglander and Vincent Desharnais being swapped for Luke Schenn and Gustav Nyquiest.

Nils Hoglander has not been Rick Tocchet's favorite player this season, not trusting him to play anywhere near the top-6, surprising in the least as he scored over 20 goals last season.

A trade is most likely imminent, and the Canucks are looking to fill some holes that the Predators could provide.

The 35-year-old Nyquist, is a proven offensive generator, scoring 75 points last season in 81 appearances.

He may not be the the biggest name in hockey and on the tail end of his career, but with the Canucks in win now mode, they could use Nyquist's playmaking abilities and scoring prowess which can add a lot to their top-six forward group.

The same situation goes for Luke Schenn, he would add a lot of veteran presence and physicality to the Canucks' defense, which is something they have been fairly desperate for outside of Quinn Highes and Filip Hronek.

With the Predators have one of their worst seasons in recent memory, they are looking to start a rebuild, and by acquiring a young player like Hoglander who will get a bigger role, i makes sense for the Preds to take a chance on him and be sellers.
