The Vancouver Canucks have announced today that they have called-up top goalie prospect Ty Young to the AHL Abbotsford Canucks from the East Coast Hockey League (ECHL)

Amid the injury to All-Star goalie Thatcher Demko, Arturs Silovs once again got the call in order to fill his roster spot, despite struggling in the NHL this season.

Due to the injury, Ty Young, who is touted as the next great Vancouver Canucks goalie will be loaned to the Abbottsford Canucks.

After greatly impressing with Vancouver Canucks organization during camp this year, it was beleived that he may go straight to the AHL for his first professionals eason, but with the lack of roster spots unfortuantly he started the season in the Coast.

The 20-year-old netminder and former 2022 5th-ound pick of the Canucks, has split time between the AHL and ECHL this season.

In 5 stars in Abbotsford, he has achieved a 3-2-0 record, a 2.41 goals against average (GAA) and a .915 save percentage (S%).

Young has impressed in every league he gets an opportunity, so even having to play the majority of his time with the Kalamazoo Wings of ECHL, Young has achieved a record of 4-3-0, a GAA of 2.35 and a .929 S% in seven starts.

Although Young has limited pro experience, the organization clearly sees a lot of potential stardom in his abilities as the 6'3″ netminder achieved a .903 SV%, 2.79 GAA, one shutout, and a 23-11-0 record in 37 appearances for the Prince George Cougars of the WHL.

Although not reported to be serious, if Demko's injury keeps him out longer than expected, do not be surprised if the Canucks elect to give Young a chance in the NHL, especially with how Silovs has performed this season.
