As trade rumors heat up and teams figure out how they plan to approach the deadline, the Vancouver Canucks have sent a scout to today's game between the New Jersey Devils and Philadelphia Flyers.

With 48 days to go until the National Hockey League's trade deadline, action is expected to pick up any day now and for a team like the Vancouver Canucks, it could be a busy period, but not in the way fans were hoping when the season began.

Patrik Allvin is continuing to evaluate his options on the trade market, with players such as Elias Pettersson, J.T. Miller and Brock Boeser being mentioned in rumors over the last few weeks.

If the Canucks are able to turn things around and prove to their General Manager that they can contend this season, then great, maybe they'll be buyers at the deadline.

However, if they continue to stay inconsistent or fall in the standings, then it's likely they'll become sellers, with their unrestricted free agents taking priority in any deal.

On Saturday, the New Jersey Devils, who have been linked to J.T. Miller, were taking on the Philadelphia Flyers and a member of the Vancouver Canucks organization was in attendance at the Prudential Center.

The New Jersey Devils currently sit second in the Metropolitan Division and are poised to return to the Stanley Cup Playoffs after a one year absence and there's no question that General Manager Tom Fitzgerald would like to add to his roster before March 7th.

As the team took to the ice for this afternoon's game, there were a total of 15 scouts from 14 different teams, including the Vancouver Canucks, according to James Nichols of New Jersey Hockey Now.

If Patrik Allvin is to enter trade talks with the New Jersey Devils, one option for the Vancouver Canucks is 2022 second overall pick Simon Nemec, who has been vocal with his frustration about being stuck in the American Hockey League.
