LATEST | Price tag on Vladislav Gavrikov and Ivan Barbashev revealed: Can the Canucks afford either of them?
Patrik Allvin has set his goals for the 2023-2024 campaign, aiming for a playoff spot, he's made abundantly clear that they were looking for a 3rd line centerman and reinforcements on the Blueline.
Ivan Barbashev and Vladislav Gravikov were identified as the prime candidates to occupy these roles, while it appears that Gavrikov is leaning toward re-signing with the Kings, Barbashev will most likely be hitting free agency after their playoff run due to the Golden Knights' cap issues.
The Canucks have cap issues of their own and it may just be what keeps them from acquiring either of these players. The most recent report from the Daily Face-Off etiquetted their price tag on free agency and if Allvin wishes to sign even only of them, he's got loads of work to do.
Left-Handed Centerman, 27 years old. The market's best option to pivot a third line. He brings in his experience as he won the cup with the Blues and could get his 2nd ring with the Knights. He collected 45 points in 82 games. From the reports, Dan Milstein's client will be looking for 4 years at $4.2M.
Traded from Columbus to Los Angeles for a hefty price, the 6'03'' and 221 pounds defenseman is known to be a modern shutdown defender. Between the Blue Jackets and the Kings, he collected 19 points during the last campaign. The expectation is that his market value stands at 5 years at $4.9M
The Canucks are already in cap hell, unless Allvin pulls off some wizardry there's no way the Canucks can pursue even one of them. Should Allvin consider lower-cost options? Or must he shed the needed cap space and seek the best players suited for the team's needs?
