WATCH: Crazy sequence from 1977 that explains why Jim Rutherford and Bruce Boudreau aren't the best of friends
The Vancouver Canucks announced Sunday that they had relieved their head coach of his duties.
Ever since Francesco Aquillini hire Jim Rutherford as the Director of Hockey Ops and Bruce Boudreau as the Head Coach, it always seems as if the two weren't on the same page.
Though a fan theory has surfaced on social media's suggesting that this clip would be the reason for the two hockey heads not liking each other.
In this sequence (1976-1977 season) you can see a young Bruce Boudreau flying down the middle on a breakaway and facing no other than Jim Rutherford in the nets for the Detroit Red Wings. Boudreau known for his offensive abilities registered his first career NHL goal on that play.
Now, do we really think Rutherford held a grudge against Bruce? Perhaps Bruce just liked to remind in how easy it was to score on him back in the day? Bruce will most likely let the world know when is contract will be up, who knows.
