Canucks' Elias Pettersson Earns Major Honor
Vancouver Canucks defensive prospect Elias Pettersson is in his first full season here in North America with the AHL's Abbotsford Canucks and is already raising some eyebrows.
In 30 games with Abbotsford this season, the Vasteras, Sweden native has 12 points (one goal, 11 assists), 32 penalty minutes and is a plus-five. His 12 points are second-most on Abbotsford among defensemen, only trailing fellow rookie Kirill Kudryavtsev who has 16 in 27 games.
Pettersson's strong play in Abbotsford hasn't gone unnoticed and it looks like he'll be heading to the American Hockey League's marquee event in just a matter of weeks.
Elias Pettersson named to Pacific Division's roster for 2025 AHL All-Star Classic
On Wednesday, the American Hockey League named their rosters for the 2025 All-Star Classic, which is being held in Palm Desert, California - home of the Coachella Valley Firebirds, Seattle's affiliate.
Among those named to the Pacific Division's roster for the 2025 AHL All-Star Classic was Vancouver Canucks prospect Elias Pettersson.
There will also be a few other names in attendance for the AHL All-Star Classic in California next month that Vancouver Canucks fans are familiar with.
Ethan Bear will represent the Hershey Bears in the Atlantic Division, Zac Dalpe, who was named captain of the Eastern Conference, won't be able to play due to injury, while Michael DiPietro will also be on the Atlantic Division's roster.
"Each of the AHL's four divisions will be represented by 12 players on the rosters for the 2025 AHL All-Star Classic presented by Spotlight 29 Casino, to be held February 2-3 in Palm Desert, Calif. Rosters were determined by committees of AHL coaches, and all 32 AHL teams are represented by at least one All-Star.
