Amid all the of issues that are hanging over the Vancouver Canucks this season, Kiefer Sherwood has been a massive bright spot for the team. and even his insane NHL record has been shoved under the rug due to the drama.
It was clear from Kiefer Sherwood's Vancouver Canucks debut that he was going to be a major problem for opposing teams this season, and now that we are 40 games into the year, Sherwood has not let up one bit on his physical play and it appears he won't slow down either.
Vancouver Canucks' Kiefer Sherwood breaks single season NHL record for 10+ hit games
Sherwood secured his name in the NHL's history books when the Vancouver Canucks suffered yet another over time loss to the Montreal Canadiens, losing 5-4.
Despite the ugly defeat, In Sherwood became the first player in NHL history to record at least 10 hits in five games, which passes the previous record holders of Tommy Wingles and Jeremy Lauzon.
Sherwood's record-breaking hit came with 8:23 left in the third period. The hit came against Josh Anderson, who threw two hits during the game. Sherwood now sits at 230 hits and has thrown over 50 more than anyone else in the NHL. - Adam Kierszenblat
Sherwood also has his sights set on an even bigger record, and he is well passed the pace on smashing it.
For reference, the all-time record is held by his former Nashville Predators teammate Lauzon, who threw 383 last season.
In 40 games this season, Sherwood leads the league in hits for with 237, which is 73 more than Mark Kastelic who sits in second place.
